1966 - "Panorama" The Hanratty Case"

This programme is shown here as a historial research document at the discretion of the BBC. Copyright rests with the BBC. Should the BBC request that this website should not use, we awill take it down. However, with a new edition of the classic book on Hanratty about to be released, it is appropriate to go back to the roots of the case. This was a ground-breaking programme for it is probably the first time that a television producer and report "did the job of the police". They recostructed a journey taken by Hanratty in order to test the police evidence at his trial. They also interviewed a key prosecution witness. This was unheard of in the sixties.
